I work as an engineer in Tokyo. I'm also a former Hitooshi user — I used the matchmaking service for about 5-6 months before graduating from it.

This time I'm rounding up every Hitooshi campaign currently running, checked directly against the official site and the members-only pages!

"If I'm going to join, I want the best timing" or "isn't there a coupon somewhere?" — that's what you're thinking, right?

Here's the short answer: August 2026 is one of those rare windows where the sign-up fee is completely waived. The deadline is Sunday, August 30.

As of August 8, 2026, the official channels list four offers.

Let's go through them one by one.

This is the big one, displayed on the official site top page.

• Sign-up fee: 17,800 yen → 0 yen
• 2nd month's membership fee: 17,800 yen → 8,900 yen

One thing to watch is the fine print. The official banner says:

*This campaign applies when you register your basic information and complete the booking of your first interview within the period.

In other words, registering alone isn't enough — you also need to book the first interview. I covered what the interview asks in my article on the first interview questions and flow.

Now, you might wonder: "what if I can book in time, but the interview date itself falls after August 30?" According to the official announcement, the campaign still applies as long as registration and booking are completed within the period, even if the interview takes place after August 30.

The 17,800 yen sign-up fee is the part everyone hesitates over right before applying... Having it disappear entirely is honestly a big deal.

Now for the friend referral part. Hitooshi has an invitation code system, and right now the deal is: "friends who sign up with an invitation code get the summer campaign applied" (I confirmed this on my own members-only invitation page on August 8, 2026).

Full transparency: during the campaign period, you get the same deal even without a code, as long as you meet the conditions. Money-wise there's no difference.

It's a 3-step process.

2. When asked "How did you hear about Hitooshi?", choose "referred by an acquaintance"

Note that the referral perk "cannot be combined with other campaigns". That said, the discount is the same 26,700 yen whichever door you enter through. You just can't double-dip — using the code never puts you at a disadvantage.

By the way, in normal periods the standard referral perk has been "5,000 yen off the sign-up fee with an invitation code". If you're reading this in September or later, the perk may have changed, so check what the application screen shows.

Women aged 29 or under also have the U29 campaign on the official site: the sign-up fee drops by 5,000 yen to 12,800 yen.

That said, until August 30 the summer campaign makes the sign-up fee 0 yen for everyone, so that takes priority right now. U29 matters in normal periods when no big campaign is running.

There's also something you can enter without joining. The official X account is running a giveaway: like + repost + add the official LINE account, and 5 winners get a 10,000 yen Amazon gift card.

The entry period is August 1 (Sat) to August 30 (Sun).

If you search around you'll see the query "Hitooshi coupon", but I couldn't find any coupon codes officially distributed.

No cashback deals on Japanese point sites either, as far as I checked. No student discount exists.

Some pages out there still display invitation codes of unknown origin. You won't know whether they're valid until you try entering them, so be careful. The code in this article is the one currently shown on my own invitation page, posted with the date I checked.

Hitooshi's campaigns run irregularly. Recently the timeline looked like this.

• January 2026: New Year matchmaking campaign — sign-up fee waived + 1st month half price (until January 25)
• August 2026: Summer matchmaking support campaign — sign-up fee waived + 2nd month half price (until August 30)

The pattern: big "sign-up fee waived" offers arrive at moments when people start looking, like New Year and summer.

Which also means that once this window closes, nobody knows when the next one comes... If you're on the fence, getting as far as booking the interview during the period is the rational move.

• Apply by Sunday, August 30 for a 0 yen sign-up fee + half-price 2nd month (26,700 yen saved)
• To qualify, register and complete the first-interview booking within the period
• Signing up via an invitation code gets you the same campaign
• No official coupons, point-site deals, or student discounts exist right now
• U29 (women 29 and under) is the fallback in normal periods
