My Thoughts on Visiting the Giant Dinosaur Exhibition 2024

Hello! I'm @Ryo54388667! 😆

I usually work as an engineer in Tokyo!

I mainly work with technologies like TypeScript and Next.js.

I went to the Giant Dinosaur 2024 exhibition in Yokohama, so I'll write down my thoughts bit by bit! This is just casual chat, so there's nothing particularly useful here...

Introduction

#

I went to the Giant Dinosaur 2024 exhibition in Yokohama!

It's an exhibition focusing on super-giant dinosaurs like Patagotitan. All the fossils are incredibly impressive and really bring out your inner child! I'll write about the parts that left an impression on me.

Efficient Lungs

#

One of the factors that allowed dinosaurs to become gigantic is apparently having efficient lungs.

"What are efficient lungs...?"

I thought, so I looked it up the next day!

They're said to have had similar organs to modern birds. Maybe because dinosaurs were their ancestors.

These are called air sacs, which are respiratory organs! Mammalian lungs don't have these. What makes them efficient is that they can constantly take in fresh air into the lungs, both when inhaling and exhaling. The air sacs temporarily store fresh air and send it to the lungs when exhaling, so the lungs constantly have fresh air. The air sacs are amazing, but I also thought the valves that prevent backflow are highly sophisticated.

I Want to Enjoy the Museum While Chatting with ChatGPT, But It Says "No Phone Calls"...

#

This time, I wanted to enjoy the exhibition while interacting with ChatGPT, but there were "No Phone Calls" signs in the facility, so I refrained.

I'd like to hear other people's opinions on this.

If you imagine someone with AirPods in one ear, talking to the ChatGPT app while viewing exhibits, it would look like they're on a phone call to others. While I wouldn't actually be on a phone call, it would certainly look that way to others.

I couldn't find a clear reason why phone calls are prohibited in museums. It's probably just a matter of etiquette.

This time I used ChatGPT to research things via text while viewing the exhibits. I feel the balance between enhancing the museum experience and maintaining etiquette is difficult. If ChatGPT commentary were allowed, it would hurt sales of dedicated audio guide content, so there's no incentive for management to permit it. Currently, using ChatGPT for text-based research seems like a compromise.

I had various thoughts, but it was a very interesting exhibition!

Definitely recommended for dinosaur lovers!
