My Experience Using PayCareer: What I Actually Felt

What is PayCareer?

#

PayCareer is a job-matching and side job service where you can earn at least 30,000 yen (approximately $200) just by attending interviews in response to company scouts. The service covers not only "job changes" but also "side jobs" and "contract work," targeting all working professionals, including those who aren't currently considering leaving their jobs.

I used PayCareer during my recent job search!

I had several interviews and received a job offer from one of the companies.

Getting Paid After Interviews

#

You get paid for interviews? Really??

Honestly, I was skeptical at first. I went into the interviews half-doubting, but the companies were completely serious about the interviews, and I felt it was worth participating!

The compensation was properly paid.

Sorry for doubting you... 🙏

To be precise, the payment was transferred at the end of the following month.

Reduces Time to Meet Companies

#

From a job seeker's perspective, traditional job search services send you tons of scout messages, and it takes time to find companies you're interested in among them.

On the other hand, PayCareer doesn't send many scout messages (whether that's good or bad is another matter). After all, companies need to pay compensation, so they can't just spam messages. For job seekers, you just need to choose companies you want to interview with from the filtered scouts, so it doesn't take much time.

When I actually used it, I had the impression that it didn't take much time to choose companies I wanted to interview with compared to traditional services.

However, after accepting an interview, there are several chat exchanges, so that does take some time.

There were message exchanges for scheduling, sending resumes, etc. Companies put their all into those 30-60 minute interviews, so it's understandable!

Hearing Companies' Genuine Stories

#

"Really??" (second time) I thought.

I remember hearing quite candid stories.

"Among the companies I interviewed with, someone in a certain position left, so we're recruiting to fill that role. We'd like someone to come as soon as possible."

I heard internal company stories like this. It felt genuine and urgent. I think companies are that serious about it.

Most companies use decision-makers like CEOs and COOs.

I'm not sure about this point...

I don't know the percentage, but one of the people I interviewed with was the CEO of a startup with fewer than 5 employees. Indeed, for venture companies, PayCareer seems to match the need to efficiently approach specific talented individuals rather than targeting random masses. It might be natural for executives to personally attend interviews!

Less Likely to Have Mismatches

#

I don't know the actual percentage, but I declined one company due to a mismatch.

I think the company saw value in my background, but personally, it didn't click with me.

I think there are cases where this works out well.

Like "Your experience in ~ could be useful for our ~ project!" - there are often things that you don't recognize as valuable yourself but have value in the market. Since I can't say "100% no mismatches!", I think this claim is true.

Understanding Your Real Market Value

#

This is definitely true!

When scouts don't come, they really don't come at all! Since companies pay compensation, they only message candidates worth interviewing. Therefore, not receiving scouts can be interpreted as the market evaluating you as "not quite there yet." Harsh...

It's too real and brutally honest... Severe.

Opportunity to Connect with Management and Leaders

#

During my job search, I didn't have such opportunities 😇

Final Thoughts

#

Since companies pay compensation for interviews, the level of seriousness is on another level - I think this is PayCareer's biggest advantage for job seekers.
